HARRISBURG – Sen. Chris Gebhard (R-48) today announced the approval of state funding for multiple parks projects in Berks and Lebanon counties.
“Having access to local parks gives people more ways to maintain an active lifestyle, which benefits them mentally and physically. In addition to the health advantages, parks also promote community engagement and provide people more ways to connect with their loved ones,” Gebhard said. “This funding will help to make the 48th District an even better place to live.”
The following grants were approved by the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources:
Berks County
Hamburg Borough will receive $85,000 to rehabilitate Etchberger Memorial Park. The work will include renovation of tennis courts; construction of a pedestrian walkway and parking area; installation of fencing; ADA access, landscaping, project sign and other related site improvements.
Lebanon County
Cornwall Borough will receive $250,000 to further develop Snitz Creek Park. The work will include construction of pedestrian walkways, an internal loop trail, pickleball courts, a comfort station, parking area and stormwater management measures; ADA access, landscaping, project sign and other related site improvements.
Lebanon City will receive $102,000 to further develop Coleman Park. The work will include construction of a dog park and pedestrian walkways; installation of fencing and utilities; ADA access, landscaping, project sign and other related site improvements.
The grants were awarded through the Community Conservation Partnerships Program, which helps fund planning, acquisition and development of public parks, recreation areas, trails and more.
