Gebhard, Meuser and Schlegel Host Tax Seminar on March 27

LEBANON – Sen. Chris Gebhard (R-48), Congressman Dan Meuser (R-9) and Rep. John Schlegel (R-101) are partnering to host a tax seminar on Wednesday, March 27, from 1-4 p.m. at the Lebanon Expo Center, 80 Rocherty Road, Lebanon.

Representatives from the Internal Revenue Service, the state and nonprofit organizations will be available to update attendees on changes in the tax code for the year and to answer any questions about the Property Tax/Rent Rebate (PTRR) and tax filing. Information will be available for general filers and small business owners.

“This year, more people than ever are eligible for Pennsylvania’s Property Tax/Rent Rebate program. The people who haven’t applied before and aren’t familiar with the process may have questions, so I am pleased we can offer an informative seminar for them,” Gebhard said.

The maximum standard rebate has increased to $1,000. The income cap has increased to $45,000 for both homeowners and renters. Only half of an applicant’s Social Security income is included in the calculations for eligibility. Starting this year, income caps are tied to the annual cost-of-living increases.

The PTRR program benefits eligible Pennsylvanians who are 65 years or older, widows and widowers 50 years or older, and those 18 years or older with disabilities. In addition to age requirements, applicants must have an annual household income of less than $45,000 to qualify. Applications are due by June 30.

Property Tax/Rent Rebate claim forms are also available by contacting Gebhard’s district offices or visiting SenatorGebhard.com/Constituent-Services.

“I’m pleased to join Sen. Gebhard and Rep. Schlegel in hosting a tax seminar for constituents in Pennsylvania’s Ninth District. State and federal tax codes can often be complex, and I look forward to bringing together representatives from the IRS, the Commonwealth, and nonprofit organizations to answer any questions residents may have ahead of the filing deadline,” Meuser said.

“Tax time can be cumbersome and confusing for some,” said Schlegel. “Our seminar aims to provide answers concerning changes to the Property Tax Rent Rebate program and to make the tax filing process a little smoother for everyone.”

Please RSVP for the seminar by Friday, March 22, online at SenatorGebhard.com/Tax-Seminar-Registration by calling 717-274-6735.
