Gebhard, Schlegel, Diamond Announce More Than $1.4 Million in State Grants for Lebanon County Sewer and Water Projects

HARRISBURG — Sen. Chris Gebhard (R-48), Rep. John Schlegel (R-101) and Rep. Russ Diamond (R-102) today announced projects in Lebanon County were awarded more than $1.4 million from the PA Small Water and Sewer program.

“Water and sewer projects often carry significant costs, and this funding will help offset expenses tied to these necessary improvements,” Gebhard said. “It’s critical to advocate for these projects so the full burden isn’t placed on local municipalities.”

“Reliable water and sewer infrastructure is essential to our communities, and this $1.4 million in grants will help Lebanon County make needed upgrades that benefit residents and local businesses alike, while easing the burden on local taxpayers,” Schlegel said.

“These funds help ensure municipalities and municipal authorities are able to provide a reliable essential service to residents in these communities,” Diamond said. “I’m always happy to support projects that offset expenses that might have otherwise fallen on residents.”

The following projects were awarded funding:

  • Newmanstown Water Authority — $290,135 to modify entry points and replace water meters.
  • Northern Lebanon County Authority — $327,018 to rehabilitate a sanitary sewer.
  • North Lebanon Township Municipal Authority — $246,367 to replace wastewater force mains.
  • Myerstown Borough — $352,256 to replace the main line interceptor.
  • Richland Borough — $200,000 to extend the Millbach water main.

The PA Small Water and Sewer program awards funding to municipalities and municipal authorities for water, sewer, storm water and flood control projects. The funding was approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, an independent agency of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development which administers Pennsylvania’s economic stimulus packages.
